Sjöloftet was established in 1983 and is a family owned restaurant house with a unique location on the dockside at Brevik harbour. Our goal is to be the first choice in our area for good food and drink experiences.

From our restaurant we offer pizza based on fresh crust from our own bakery as well as an international à la carte menu with tasty pastas and barbecue dishes as well as seafood. We also offer take-away and delivery of food to the consumer and business segments.

Sjöloftet consists of Restaurant Sjöloftet with different outdoor sections, banquet facilities, conference facilities and a pub. Sjöloftet also possesses a marina with service facilities, kiosk, ice cream bar and two hotel rooms.

Brevik is a beautiful small town 160 km southwest of Norway’s capital Oslo.

Information about the position and demands

We are looking for a talented, passionate and experienced Head Chef who takes responsibility that all food is served with the highest quality to satisfy our guests increasing expectations.
You should have education in our profession and relevant and good experience from à la carte restaurants and leading positions.

Working as a Head Chef you will primarily work active in the kitchen with the overall responsibility for the kitchen – including supervision, delegation and developing of two to four other a la carte chefs besides pizza cooks and other kitchen staff. You will also be responsible for good communication and cooperation between the kitchen and service.

The job requires that you are positive and outgoing. You should be a real team-player and bring inspiration to the rest of the kitchen staff. You must have the ability to work fast, independent and systematic under pressure. You should also have a good understanding and knowledge of kitchen economy and commodities. As the Head Chef you will have a close dialog with owners and manager. You should come up with new menu suggestions and other improvements.

Sjöloftet have three à la carte chefs working full time and two to three extra in the summer time.

Wages: From 16€ / hour. Hour’s pr. month: 150-180.

Housing: We can offer a nice staff apartment in walking distance from work. 380€/ month
