Job Description
The MS SQL Database Administrator is part of the Regional Centre of Excellence (CoE) Infrastructure Engineering Department of Delhaize Group in Europe and Asia. The primary role is to support all aspects of the MS SQL database environment in order to meet the business requirements for Delhaize Group and its regional operating units.
More specifically, the job holder:
• Understands the corporate strategy and business needs in order to support technology strategy in his/her area of responsibility in alignment with regional IT strategy
• Manages small to mid-sized projects with technical focus in his/her domain and/or contributes to large scale projects
• Is responsible for day-to-day administration of regional systems, proactively taking care of their stability and performance
• Performs L3 support
• Leads/participates in troubleshooting efforts in order to analyze and resolve faults
• Acts according to ITIL best practices (e.g. change- and incident management)
• Ensures successful implementation and maintenance of Delhaize standards
• Ensures compliance of IT policies and baselines, including SOX and PCI compliance
• Represents the team, guards standards & processes, manages & maintains baselines, i.e. by working closely with the other departments and other operating companies in the Group
• Participates in 24/7 on-call activity
• BSc in Computer Science, Electronics Engineering or equivalent
• At least 5 years of experience in MS SQL Database Administration
• Specialized knowledge in:
o SQL 7, SQL Server 2000, SQL Server 2005, SQL Server 2008, SQL Server 2008R2 and SQL Server 2012
o T-SQL
o Database tuning, management, security, configuration, upgrade, backup & restore
o Additional database administration activities (e.g. clustering, partitioning, troubleshooting & analysis, integration &
reporting services)
o Capacity planning & performance tuning for complex AIX and LINUX server environments
o Lifecycle management to AIX server environments
• Fluency in English, especially in technical documentation
• Analytical thinking and problem solving
• Strong results orientation and accountability

• Ability to work under tight deadlines
