R&D Snacks Manager
This position involves a unique opportunity for an experienced, competent and shelf-driven R&D manager with strong communication skills to provide project leadership and manage projects associated with the development and continuous improvement of our Snack Innovation Pipeline. Reporting to the Strategic Innovation Director, this demanding role will involve coordinating a team of NPD Technologists to deliver business growth through the successful completion of the associated NPD projects.
This person should have a strong in the food product & process development technology profile with hands-on experience from bench to manufacturing scale as opposed to being a research-oriented new product development specialist.
Reports to: Strategic Innovation Director
Key Accountabilities:
- Participates actively in the strategic planning of product development and improvement projects.
- Provides ideas and strategic direction to positively influence the creation and development of the innovation pipeline.
- Managing the exploratory and feasibility phase of Innovation , participating in development of objectives, and planning schedules in collaboration with Marketing and R&D.
- Represent R&D/Innovation on cross-functional teams by communicating technical perspectives, in the early scoping and concept/protocept development phase
- Present updates and recommendations to Innovation team and cross-functional leadership.
- Schedules, organizes and coordinates the activities together with R&D to ensure the implementation of agreed schedules of the various steps required to complete the development of new product platforms and improvement of existing ones.
- Works closely with the factories, with supporting technical studies and recommendations regarding issues of technical feasibility, ingredients evaluation, aiming to continuously improve the quality and cost of products.
- Monitor developments in the wider field of food technology and market and participating actively the Marketing NPD plans & proposals. Make suggestions for initiation of projects or their abandonment as experience allows.
- Participate in project design and methodology, problem solving through application of knowledge and original thinking.
- Identify, develop and validate product and process optimization projects through preparation of experimental formulations, bench and pilot scale development and manufacturing trials.
- Lead project implementation to include training and sustainability initiatives.
- Take initiative to secure from all available sources all pertinent advise, ideas, and information having a bearing upon a project.
- Provide leadership and instruction to technologists, technicians and lower level professional personnel assigned to a project.
- Provide coordination of efforts of other members of the project
Knowledge, Experience & Skills:
- Bachelors/ Ms Degree in Food Technology, Food Process Eng., or Chemical Eng.
- Previous experience in Bakery or Cereal-based Industry desired.
- At least 2 years exposure in an international environment will be highly appreciated
- At least 10 years of professional experience, with a proven track record of successful projects in a similar position.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills in both English and Greek
- Excellent PC literacy skills.
