PAID Internship at the heart of EU’s environmental agenda – Brussels
EUROPEN, the European Organization for Packaging and the Environment, is looking for an intern to join its highly motivated team. Are you ready to experience the European policy making and shaping at the heart of Europe, learn and be working on an array of issues ranging from packaging and sustainability, food waste, environmental policies and communication?
EUROPEN is Europe’s only industry association for packaging and the environment. Our members count some of the world’s biggest companies (www.EUROPEN.be), all dedicated to satisfactorily addressing the environmental challenges facing the packaging supply chain.
As an intern, you will be working at the EUROPEN office based in Brussels. The internship will provide you with an opportunity to apply theoretical knowledge into practice, gain in-depth understanding of EU issues and Public Affairs in a cross-cultural work experience.
Description
The internship will mainly focus on assisting in EU policy work and to a lesser extent assist in communication activities.
Tasks include among others:
• Research and monitor current policy developments;
• Organize and participate in meetings, including follow up actions;
• Produce/update/review information material related to packaging & environmental issues;
• Coordinate activities with members;
• Produce Power Point presentations;
• Work on specific projects (related to EU policies and communication such as updating Website content and editing e-newsletter);
• Assist in administrative tasks, when necessary.
Requirements (ONLY candidates matching these requirements will be contacted)
• Highly motivated
• Independent, proactive, dynamic, and open-minded personality;
• Good knowledge of the EU, its institutions and processes
• A Master degree in EU or Environmental Studies, Politics, Law, Economics, International relations or Journalism;
• High level of written and oral English;
• Attention to detail and highly organised;
• Previous job experience is preferred, but not required;
• Strong IT skills (Word, Excel, PPT, Internet)
• Proficiency in the use of social media is also an asset (e.g. Twitter)
Specificities
• Full-time, paid internship covering living & transportation costs
• Deadline for sending applications: End January 2013
• Internship duration: minimum 5-6 months
• Starting date: January/February 2013
